Watch When Scanning Coupons!

I was making my monthly see-what-I-can-get-free-with-coupons trip at Target today. So, I collected my items and went to check-out. Some of my items were the Shout Wipes, 4 count, for $0.97 each. I brought 8 of them to the check-out counter and proceeded to use 4 $2/2 coupons.

When the cashier scanned my coupons, they only took off $0.97! The manager was called over and told me that those coupons really weren’t supposed to be used on those items. I then explained to her that the coupon did not specify size restrictions. The manager then said, “Well our register’s know it’s not supposed to be for that item so it will only take off $0.97.” I then politely told her that I did not want to purchase those items.

I purchased the rest of my items and headed to Wal-Mart. They also carry the Shout Wipes, 4 count, in the travel section for $0.97 each. I picked up 8 of them and headed to the check-out with my 4 $2/2 coupons. I let the cashier know that my coupons may need manager approval and he had no problem with it.

Much to my delight, the coupons scanned at Wal-Mart with NO PROBLEMS! (Only asking if the coupon was a valid amount).  I also give credit to the cashier for knowing how to answer the question: Valid coupon amount?

So… make sure you watch when the cashier scans your coupons to make sure the correct amount is taken off!

Also, note that I did not solely go to Wal-Mart just for the Shout Wipes. I also went for some freebies that Target did not carry:
Olay Body Wash (travel), $0.97
-Use $1/1 any Olay Body Wash

Post-It Super Sticky Notes, single pack, $1.00
-Use $1/1 any Super Sticky Notes

Gain Dish Liquid, 11 oz, $0.97
-Use $1/1 any Gain Dish Liquid

77% Savings at Target!

I made a quick trip to Target to use up some great Scrubbing Bubbles and Huggies coupons before they expired. Here is what I picked up:

Bought:
2 – Scrubbing Bubbles Power Sprayer Starter
3 – Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel
3 – Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush 2-in-1 Starter Kit
3 – Huggies Diapers, jumbo pks
1 – Huggies Wipes, 64 ct
1 – Huggies Wipes Refill, 184 ct

Now usually it is pretty easy for me to look at my receipt and remember which coupons I used, but this particular manager at Target put up a fuss about some of my coupons and wouldn’t let me use them even though I knew I was using them correctly. Ugh. Although, my coupons did involve stacking manufacturer coupons with Target coupons, buy 1, get 1 free coupons, and getting gift cards, which I used over 3 transactions.

Anyway, here is the run down of what I spent versus how much I saved:

ARV: $83.42
Total OOP: $19.05
Savings: $64.37, 77.16%

Step2 Wagon for Two Plus for only $49!

Step2 Red Wagon

This week, Target has the Step2 Wagon for Two Plus for only $49!! I am seriously thinking about getting this because every kid needs a wagon and we don’t have one yet.

Amazon also has is only sale for $49, but it is through Target so you will have to pay shipping.

The Target ad states “for Two Plus”, but the Amazon site just states “for Two”, so I am not 100% sure that the one on Amazon will be able to hook up to the trailer, should you buy that as well. But you should have no problem getting the one that does hook up to the trailer at Target since the ad states “for Two Plus”.

But since Target is about 45 minutes away, I will probably do a price match at Wal-Mart if they carry it in store.

$5.00 Gift Card on Glade products at Target

12-6-09

I had some free product coupons for some Glade Scented Oil Candle Tins and Refills, and Target had a great deal on those products so off I went:

2 – Glade Scented Oil Candle Tins, $2.50 each
3 – Glade Scented Oil Candle Refills, 4 ct, $2.50 each

2 – Buy Candle Tins, get Candle Refills Free
1 – Buy 1 Candle Refill, get 1 Free

ARV: $12.50
Total OOP: $5.00

Received:
$5.00 Target Gift Card for purchasing 5 participating Glade products

This particular deal is located on the back page of this weeks Target ad and it specifically stated the Candle Tins and Candle Refills as participating products. I had trouble with this deal though. For some reason the register didn’t recognize the scents that I chose as participating products, so I had to go to Customer Service and they just ended up giving me $5.00 cash instead of a Gift Card. I suppose the register would have recognized holiday scents, although the ad didn’t state any particular scent.

It gets better! Use this deal with the SC Johnson $5 Rebate (if you haven’t already used it three times), and you can actually make $5.00 after mail in rebate!!

Major Savings at Target this week!

2009-11-19

By expertly reciting Target’s new price matching and coupon policies back to them, I scored some super cheap batteries. I also got a great deal on Ritz crackers, Del Monte canned veggies, and Campbell’s soups!

I had to go to Customer Service to do the price matching, so for Transaction 1 with the Duracell Coppertop Batteries here is how it went:

2 AA Duracell Coppertop batteries, 24 ct, $14.99 each
2 AAA Duracell Coppertop batteries, 16 ct, $9.99 each

Using the Family Dollar circular, which did not specify which size batteries, I was able to get each pack for $3.00 each! On top of that I had Target coupon for the batteries as well.

2 – $2.00 off AA Duracell batteries, 24 ct
2 – $1.50 off any Duracell batteries, 8 ct or more

Actual Retail Value: $49.96
Total OOP: $5.41

I checked out at a regular cashier for Transaction 2:

1 Ritz crackers, 16 oz., $2.50
1 Ritz Crackerfuls, $2.99
2 Campbell’s Tomato Soup, $0.65 each
4 Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup, $0.49 each
8 Del Monte canned veggies, $0.45 each

$1.00 off Ritz crackers, Target coupon
$1.00 off Ritz crackers, mftr coupon
Buy Ritz crackers, get Ritz Crackerfuls FREE
$1.00 off 2 Campbell’s Tomato Soup, mftr coupon
$1.00 off any 6 Del Monte veggies, Target coupon
$1.00 off any 8 Del Monte veggies, mftr coupon

Total OOP: $5.68

I had brand new cashier for transaction 2 (literally his first day), so I felt kind of proud of myself that I helped him learn how to do coupon transactions : )
